Our Form of Worship

Our services are fairly traditional and are suitable for all the family, children are welcome at all services although the Taize service with periods of quiet reflection may not be suitable for all age groups. The form of the services that are normally held are:

Holy Communion - the service lasts about one hour.

Morning prayer - a more traditional style of service using the Book of Common Prayer, the service lasts about one hour.

Family Service - a simple service of hymns and prayer, the service lasts about 50 minutes followed by coffee.

Taize Service - A style of service blending music, word and silence together. It is both communal and individual. The liturgy that has been developed around the Taizé community is primarily for the worship of God, but it is also meant to quieten the soul. The quietness does not happen at once, but gradually during the worship. There is repetition in the words of the music, there are many periods of silence, and the readings are read slowly - all so that we may have a deep quiet grow in our hearts. Then we may be still and be at peace in the presence of God. The service lasts about 50 minutes.
